Traveling home to Singapore

May 8th, 2012

Headed back to Singapore... wow it was so much easier than going.  Dylan slept most of the time in his carseat and we had three seats to ourselves.  Daddy took both flights on baby duty but was able to sleep, eat, and watch movies without any problems.

It was so much easier transitioning to Singapore time too!  It only took about three days total.  Coming home is so much easier, must remember this next time.

So this is Russia?

Hanging out in the Moscow airport with Phil & Daddy!
Making friends in the airport... such a social butterfly!
All packed up in Houston!
3AM coffee in Singapore, jet lag anyone?
Are we home yet?

Baptism at First United Methodist Church Katy

April 29th, 2012: Katy, Texas

We decided to baptize Dylan while we were home for a number of reasons, close to family, didn't really have a church we called home in Singapore, and the pastor that married us could do it, Marlin Finn.

Uncle Ryan flew in for the baptism, our good friends from Singapore, the Kirkham family showed support, and my uncle Jan and cousin Natalie drove in from San Antonio.  Dirk's parents also drove in from San Antonio and it was so nice having so much family support.  My mom had just had cataract surgery plus a corneal transplant on April 4th so she was still healing but made it a special day for Dylan anyway.

Michelle Bruce monogramed Dylan's outfit with a D.R.D. and we are so thankful for thoughtful friends who care so much for our little man.

Dylan did great during the ceremony and almost made it to the end without breaking down but it was nap time and boy was he tired.

I will always remember this day.  Not only did Dylan get welcomed into a church home, we met some important people who introduced us to our new friends the Paulsen's in Singapore.  I will also remember this day because it was the last time I saw my uncle before he was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer.

First Baseball Game

We were able to make a quick Astros baseball game in while home.  It happened to be Dylan and Olivia's first date night out.  We met the Brown's at the game and the babies really enjoyed their first baseball game.

Dirk met us in the USA and it always gets a bit busy when he comes into town.  Dylan was a trooper, he got baptized at FUMC Katy, spent some alone time with the grandparents, made it across Texas to visit Uvalde, Concan, and San Antonio.

Mimi had taught Dylan how to scoot on his bottom to get around, clap, and there were many noise making sounds being made.  Mainly blowing strawberries, motor boat noises, and lots and lots of babble.  Bath time was still a favorite but he became a expert at the jump a roo.

Dylan got to meet all his extended family, including uncle Zach who flew in from Portland, OR.

I have some really talented friends!  While we were home my friend Melissa took her new lens out for a photo shoot with us, she got some amazing pictures!  Thank you so much Mel, these were our first family photos.
