Happy baby

Dylan is one of the happiest babies I know, as long as he isn't hungry or tired. And I think he has learned to pose for my camera too.

Most days we hang out playing with our toys, watching Baby Einstein, and sitting with mommy on the couch.

He is absolutely crazy about Baby Einstein Mozart! I catch him talking to the TV and waving his hands. He loves the lava lamp pictures and all the music.

Dylan....out

One tired baby after hanging out with daddy all afternoon.

Our weekends are jammed packed now. Leaves little time for naps, but we are starting to take shorter and shorter naps in the afternoon. Boo for mommy!

First Thanksgiving

Dylan's first Thanksgiving was a success. I got to use all my china, crystal, and silver for the first time too.

We had 8 people for dinner.  Jessica Lyons and I split up the menu and everything turned out wonderful!

Dylan has been enjoying his nanny, Jessa. She is really good at getting him to sleep and she put him to bed early for us so we could entertain our guests.

Whats New at Almost 4 Months

This week we started playing with our feet while getting our diaper changed and while sitting on the couch.

We also rolled over from front to back for the first time, but couldn't repeat it.

We are really talking up a storm now too.  Dylan prefers a good conversation any day over all these fun new toys.

We started Gymboree class this Sunday and it was interesting... Dylan was doing great while all the other babies had multiple melt downs and I thought we were home free until it came to tummy time and he couldn't see Dirk or I.

He had to look at the baby across from him who was a little girl, she took one look at him and burst into tears which made him burst into tears.  ALL the little girls cried the WHOLE time, two of them were named Sophie... must have been a popular name this year :)

We are going to continue the class and see how it goes.  He liked all the songs and I think the other baby interaction will be good.  Dylan and the other little boy in the class did great while all the girls cried....

How to torture a baby

Mimi got Dylan these rattles for his feet before he was born. He has finally found his feet so I put them on... And wow! He was entertained. He talked to his feet for a good 20 minutes while we skyped with Uncle Ryan and Gramps.

He also started giggling today, going to have to get that on video for sure. Baby giggles are definitely sent from heaven. They are just a tad better than morning smiles!

Big smiles for mommy

This little guy is the happiest just after a long nap and a big feed.

Making friends left and right

We have discovered our hands can do things other than be used as a pacifier.

We lost the treasured frog that hung from his car seat in Australia. The Lyons graciously let us borrow theirs until we got a new one. We put it on and he immediately started playing with it!

I keep handing him more toys to play with each day. So far Sophie the giraffe is not a hit, but I am sure he will love her soon enough.

Baby Bjorn

We are loving our baby bjorn!  Thank you so much Beth!

We take daily walks with Otto discussing the weather in Singapore and looking at the flowers.  At 3.5 months, he is so interested in everything around him.

I found this cute little hat that was given to me by a co-worker and it is perfect for the sunny afternoon walks we take.  Love it!  Thanks Katy W.!!

3 months

October 31st, 2011

The time is flying by but I am ok with it for now.  With time comes MORE sleep!!  Dylan is now sleeping 8-9 hours at night and then takes another good 4 hour nap in the morning.  Definitely his mother's son!

We didn't get to the doctor at the three month mark because he was there the week before checking up on his reflux, which has gotten better but still not keeping down all his feeds.

We have developed quite the vocabulary and love to talk and hear new voices.  He will stare at the computer screen when I Skype with my parents and even carried on a conversation with his Uncle Ryan.  He was talking to his Mimi as well when he heard her voice over the phone.

He is interested in EVERYTHING!!  Always wanting to look around and see what is going on.  The flight to Perth, Australia went very smoothly, he was so entertained watching all the flight attendants.  Dirk and I were able to watch two movies and eat our dinner while Dylan slept.  Next up for travel is Koh Samui, Thailand in December.  Now only if we could get him on a scuba diving boat....

Other new things we are doing: He can now put his pacifier back in his mouth when it falls out.  And everything must go into the mouth these days, especially his bib.  He can kick the rattle that hangs from his play mat for a good 30 minutes to entertain himself, but still prefers to look at people and faces.  He is liking his swing more and more and it seems to sooth him in the mornings.

He is still loving bath time with daddy and we have even added early morning walks with daddy and Otto in the baby Bjorn.  He LOVES the Bjorn now that he finally fits in it.

The last stats at the doctor were:

Weight: 9 pounds 4 ounces

Height: 22 inches

Still under the 5th percentile but he has managed to gain a pound or more per month which is right on target for steady growth... it will take him awhile to catch up.

Halloween

My First Halloween

Dirk is obsessed about the TV show Sons of Anarchy, so naturally Dylan was a biker for Halloween.  He didn't quite stay awake long enough to put on his whole costume.  Dirk was playing around with him in just the bandana before a Halloween party...

He also had biker booties and a motorcycle onesie.

I don't think we are the typical parents... having a blast with our first born!
